Homecoming at BYU

So I have crossed another fence in my life. I have now been set up and GONE on a blind date. Robbie called me up on... probably Tuesday and asked if it would be alright if he set me up because he wanted to go to Homecoming on the weekend and didn't want it to be a single date. Of Coarse I was willing to go with his group and be set up. I was told we were going to the Swing Dance and being picked up at 6 pm. Friday came and I got ready and Jess, bless her heart was willing to do my hair in a time period style, which was way cute, and then lent me her shoes because she felt like they were WAY cute and matched the WAY cute dress. Well, 6 o'clock rolled around and John Thompson showed up with a bouquet of lilies for me, and we were off. It was really nice, they picked me up, and then we went and got Jill (who was going with Robbie, despite that she has a boyfriend, I think that is pretty cool!) Dinner was at TGIFriday's and it went really well. We had a great conversation, and it was odd, but really Jill and Robbie were talking, and John and I were talking, and then every once in awhile we would talk together. It went well. We then went to the Spectacular show that BYU puts on every year, and it was WONDERFUL I felt like it was a summary of my high school experience - exemplified. It was wonderful. They sang "If You Could Hie to Kolob" and "Danny Boy" and "Cindy" and "Battle of Jericho" and "Bring Him Home" and a song from "Pirates" and oh, many others that were so beautiful. We arrived late and then left early from that, but it was seriously an amazing concert. Next we went to the dance, and I was quite excited because he was in 280 and that was his favorite class. Which means that he knows more moves than me - but in some ways, and not in others, and I am not so sure that, better said - I know that wasn't my favorite part of the evening. I just felt like he was criticizing me for not being able to do the things that he knew, but then he wasn't that great himself so it didn't feel like it was justified. But oh well. We took fun pictures right before we went in to the dance. And the music was great - there was a live jazz band playing, and they did a really good job. I had fun watching and coming up with stories for couples around us. The night could have ended there, however that was not Robbie's plan so we went out for Baskin Robbins afterwards and I was able to get tin roof sunday, oh, I think that might be one of my favorite ice creams ever. And then home after that.
So there you go, I have now been on a blind date, and I have been on my first date since I was with Joey, and thus I have walked over another "fence" of life. I wonder how many I will have. Oh well.
- oh and that is my apartment as well :)
